Start Your Day With French Toast

French toast is a very popular breakfast meal in westernized society because it is tasty and easy to prepare. You just mix a few eggs and a cup of milk in a bowl, and then soak a slice of bread in the bowl. Some people will even use butter or margarine in the bowl for more flavors, but it is not necessary. After that you just fry the slice of bread on a pan or skillet until it becomes hard. Now this might not sound like the most nutritious meal, but it can actually give you the right blend of calories, carbohydrates and fats to start your day. However, you don’t want to eat this later at night because the excess calories will get stored as fat in your body while you sleep. When you eat French toast in the morning it will provide you with the energy you need to get through the rest of your day.

It is recommended that you eat two French toast slices in the morning. This will give you about 500 calories, which for the average person is an adequate amount of calories for them to have in one meal. Of course, a person like this should be eating 5-6 small meals per day but it really depends on the person’s size and weight. Either way, French toast is perfect for most people because of its blend of nutrients. Some people may argue that the carbohydrates in the French toast are bad, but you have to remember that French toast is simply bread. A lot of dieters and weight watcher gurus will tell you bread is bad, but it is actually a great source of carbohydrates and energy. Plus, carbohydrates give you plenty of fiber to help your digestive system process food better.

Now the part that people always freak out about are the saturated fats. Obviously, French toast is going to be consumed with saturated fat because of the eggs, butter, and milk. Saturated fats are not good for your system because the fats will build up and clog your arteries. However, our bodies do need a little bit of fat to stay healthy. Chances are if you eat French toast in the morning and then eat clean nonfat meals for the rest of the day, then the saturated fat won’t hurt you. But, you should still consider making a healthier alternative to the French toast that doesn’t include butter, but rather fat free milk instead. If you could go a step further and use egg whites then that would eliminate the saturated fat entirely.
